Junior Communications Specialist

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Communications Specialist to join their dynamic Media & PR team, working remotely and supporting operations connected to Soweto, Gauteng . This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional passionate about public relations and media engagement. You will assist in developing and executing communication strategies, crafting content, managing social media, and supporting media relations activities.

• Assist in the creation and distribution of press releases, newsletters, and other communication materials.
• Support the management of the company's social media presence, including content scheduling and community engagement.
• Monitor media coverage and industry news, compiling relevant reports.
• Help maintain media contact databases and assist with media outreach efforts.
• Conduct research to support PR campaign development and strategy.
• Assist in organizing virtual PR events and media briefings.
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and ensure consistent messaging.
• Contribute to content creation for various communication channels, including the company website and internal platforms.
• Provide administrative support to the communications team as needed.
• Stay updated on basic PR principles and communication trends.

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• 0-2 years of experience in a communications, PR, or media-related role (internships count).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Excellent organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with social media platforms.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• A proactive attitude, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative spirit.
• Basic understanding of media relations principles is a plus.
• Experience with graphic design or content creation tools is advantageous.
