Associate Director

Remote | 6–12 month contract | $90–$100/hour | Potential extension

We are seeking an experienced Publications Lead to support scientific publication delivery across a cell therapy portfolio during a high-priority period. Working alongside existing Publications Leads, this contractor will provide hands‑on leadership, manage key deliverables, and adapt to shifting priorities.

The ideal candidate can integrate quickly, work independently, and take ownership of new and in‑progress projects to maintain timely, high‑quality scientific communication.

• Partner with existing Publications Leads to execute publication plans across priority programs, assets, and work streams.
• Lead manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and presentations from planning through submission and post-publication activities.
• Provide additional support during peak periods, including congress deadlines and key data readouts.
• Manage publication milestones, trackers, calendars, timelines, risks, and competing priorities.
• Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Clinical, HEOR, authors, investigators, and external experts.
• Direct medical writing agencies and review deliverables for scientific accuracy and quality.
• Ensure adherence to ICMJE recommendations, Good Publication Practice (GPP) guidelines, and internal policies.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and follow established publication processes.
• Assume ownership of in‑progress projects and flex across assets and deliverables as business needs evolve.

• Advanced degree in life sciences, such as a PhD, PharmD, MD, or MSc.
• 5–7+ years of medical publications experience within pharma or biotech.
• Strong knowledge of ICMJE and GPP publication standards.
• Experience managing scientific publication deliverables and external medical writing partners.
• Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding and manage concurrent work streams.
• Strong stakeholder communication, prioritization, and attention to detail.
• Comfort taking over partially developed projects and adapting to changing priorities.
