Delta’s international headquarters is located in Bismarck, North Dakota. Currently, our dedicated team consists of almost 100 employees, of which about half work within our headquarters office and the other half work remotely throughout the U.S. and Canada. JOB

SUMMARY

We are seeking a seasoned Sr. Planned Giving Director and leader with experience prospecting, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a relationship-based portfolio of individuals across North America. This position will be a key leader on Delta’s Fundraising Team and work in close partnership and coordination with other colleagues across multiple departments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Identify, qualify, cultivate, and solicit planned and deferred gifts from individuals who are part of an identified prospect portfolio across North America.

Coordinate with Conservation, Policy and Development partners on proposals to secure funding for Delta’s 4 Pillar priorities (Duck Production, Habitat Conservation, Research & Education and Hunter3) as defined by the Strategic Plan, and to include support for operations, conservation in key landscapes, educational programs, and permanent endowments.

Work with our Donor Engagement staff to develop and implement a robust planned gift stewardship plan.

Partner with event fundraising staff and volunteers to raise awareness of Delta’s planned giving program (Legacy Gifts) and increase philanthropic revenue for the organization.

Engage staff, donors, volunteer leadership to motivate and guide Delta’s international planned giving program.

Achieve goals established in partnership with Delta’s Development Leadership Team to achieve annual budget goals and help sustain the organization long-term.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the successful candidate must be an initiative-taker who can work independently as well as part of a team and is driven to succeed. Familiarity with planned giving, experience with comprehensive fundraising campaigns, relationships in and a working knowledge of the region’s philanthropic community, and an interest in outdoor conservation activities are also desired. The selected candidate should have the desire and ability to travel extensively within the state/ region and will be expected to live in a mutually agreed upon location (home office) within the assigned work area.

Experience and Education – Completed Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four years fundraising or related sales/business experience with an emphasis on planned/estate giving and a strong conservation ethic. Familiarity with major gift fundraising, estate planning, capital campaigns, and donor stewardship. Experience with comprehensive fundraising campaigns, and a proven ability to be a key team leader and gift facilitator.

Communication Skills – Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Technological/CRM Database Proficiency – Working knowledge of planned giving vehicles, gifts of land, tangible property, etc. Computer literacy and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, CRM (Salesforce or other similar platforms), and database management programs.

Interpersonal Skills – Excellent interpersonal, relationship, and team-building skills. Ability to provide strategic vision, leadership and guidance working in partnership with other fundraising professionals and volunteers. Self-starter who can work independently as well as part of a dedicated team and is driven to succeed.
