Salary: $101,600 – $127,000

Monday–Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Hybrid – onsite 2–3 days per week)

Position Purpose

This role serves under the leadership of the Director of Development, focused on identifying, engaging, and soliciting patients and families who have had clinical experiences at Dartmouth Health and/or Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) and an interest in philanthropy. The Associate Director oversees the cultivation of a personal portfolio of prospects and works closely with clinical leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, engage, solicit, and steward patients and families with a philanthropic interest.
  • Oversee a portfolio of approximately 125–175 prospects, anticipating multi‑year gift commitments up to $5 million.
  • Partner with department chairs, physicians, nurses, and advancement teams to identify fundraising priorities and develop compelling cases for support.
  • Design and implement donor‑centric fundraising strategies to meet activity and revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with Dartmouth Cancer Center, Dartmouth Health Children’s, Planned Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Annual Giving, and other advancement units to maximize results.
  • Document and record all activities in fundraising databases.
  • Participate in the philanthropy training program, attending coaching sessions with physicians and nurses.
  • Provide fundraising expertise and best practices to department leaders and staff.
  • Engage in strategic planning, event development, and programming to support fundraising objectives.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, collegiality, and effective communication in a diverse, welcoming environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 6 years of fundraising experience in a complex development organization.
  • Preferred experience in an academic medical system or university environment.
  • Excellent oral, written, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and diplomatic abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self‑motivated and proactive.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with priority setting.
  • Proficiency with fundraising databases and web‑based software.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines; ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
  • Commitment to diversity.

Additional Information

Location of Position:

Lebanon, NH – 35 Centerra Parkway, Third Floor. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance. Hybrid – onsite 2–3 days per week.

Remote Work Eligibility:
Hybrid.

Driving:
Essential function – use of personal, Dartmouth, or rental vehicle.
