SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Director of Health Education and Healthcare Relations, the Manager, Health Education and Equity, advances MSAA’s mission to improve MS health outcomes and promote health literacy and equity for individuals affected by multiple sclerosis (MS).

This role designs, implements, and evaluates programs that enhance health literacy, advocacy, and equity for medically underserved MS communities. Responsibilities include delivering in-person and virtual educational programs, developing curricula and learning materials, and ensuring data‑driven, mission‑aligned outcomes.

The Manager also co‑leads MSAA’s African American Advisory Board, strengthens community and healthcare partnerships, and supports full‑cycle educational grant management.

  • Salary $60,000, with a full health & welfare benefit package
  • Remote position, with yearly travel requirement of at least 40% national travel
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director to develop and expand MSAA’s MS health literacy initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and community needs.
  • Design/conceptualize and plan regional and national in‑person programs, web‑based MS educational programs, and MS health publications.
  • Develop and monitor budgets for assigned programs, and streamline the communication and coordination of grant management.
  • Contribute to the development of educational content and curriculum design, ensuring materials are culturally responsive, inclusive, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Execute MS health literacy, advocacy, and equity programs, including traveling to deliver regional and national in‑person programs, and hosting evening web‑based MS educational programs.
  • Evaluate and measure program impact and effectiveness applying both qualitative and quantitative measures to the regional and national in‑person programs, as well as the web‑based MS educational programs.
  • Continually build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, and advocacy groups to enhance MSAA’s reach and impact within diverse communities.
  • Co‑lead and facilitate MSAA’s African American Advisory Board, translating its recommendations into actionable strategies and measurable outcomes.
  • Prepare impact and outcome reports for funders, leadership, and external stakeholders, highlighting key insights and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Senior Director and Manager, Education Grants, in designing the compelling project narratives in support of the grant application process.
  • Serve as an MSAA representative at fundraising, cultivation, and stakeholder events as requested.
  • Support the broader activities of MSAA and collaborate with departments as needed, while performing additional duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Minimum of a B.A. or B.S. in a related field – advanced degree in related field a plus
  • 3 to 5 years of project management experience, preferably nonprofit
  • 3 to 5 years grant acquisition and management experience desired
  • 3 to 5 years of education, training, or equivalent experience
  • Yearly travel requirement of at least 40% national travel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability working with Microsoft 365 / Teams (Word, Excel, Power Point), Canva, and other creative and AI tools to develop reports, manage documentation, and maintain organized program records
  • Self‑directed and can work autonomously
  • Flexible, team player – enjoys collaborating with others
  • Have a stable, private home office setting (MSAA provides computer and related technology)
  • Open to learning about the full range of Mission Delivery offerings
  • Ability to learn and use new software systems
