The physical location for the candidate selected must be located in New Jersey to maintain a home‑based role within the contiguous United States.
What you will be doing in the role of Development ManagerThe Development Manager serves as an integral member of a community‑based fundraising team. This position will play a key role in the implementation of a year‑round fundraising program, assisting in reaching local market revenue goals. The primary focus will be the MORE THAN PINK Walk/Race for the Cure, including recruitment, retention, cultivation of corporate teams, top fundraisers, survivors, and execution of event logistics.
WhatYou Will Bring To The Table
- Assist in the development and execution of a year‑round fundraising plan and budget to meet revenue goals for the Market.
- Collaborate with Community Development leadership and staff to execute a strategic fundraising plan for the MORE THAN PINK Walk/Race events.
- Meet monthly fundraising goals for the Walk/Race, third‑party events, individual giving, and employee engagement while maintaining the budget.
- Support the Development Director in driving revenue from activities outside the Walk/Race series.
- Prospect, solicit, and cultivate corporate engagement throughout the market area.
- Travel within specific markets or territories in collaboration with the national corporate partnership team.
- Manage communication touchpoints with key constituents, including top fundraisers, team captains, sponsors, and volunteers.
- Develop creative retention strategies and communicate with participants to maintain momentum.
- Adhere to best practices, event timelines, and drive accountability for the team.
- Build and lead an operational committee to support signature and special events.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with other Development Managers on national strategies.
- Build confidence and strong relationships between the community and Susan G. Komen.
- Maintain knowledge of Komen’s mission and programs to promote fundraising initiatives.
- Foster collaborative relationships with all Komen staff, participating in regional and enterprise projects.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Travel within the geographic service area with reliable transportation.
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising, special events, and team management with a focus on peer‑to‑peer fundraising.
- Oversee $500K+ in revenue through peer‑to‑peer events, major gifts, and sponsor ships.
- Close face‑to‑face sales and sponsor ships.
- Recruit and manage volunteers, providing high customer service and motivation.
- Exhibit excellent planning, organizational, and follow‑up skills.
- Interact professionally with staff, leadership, volunteers, sponsors, and donors.
- Manage multiple projects with varying priorities simultaneously.
- Communicate verbally and in writing effectively to a broad audience.
- Be familiar with the community and local non‑profit space.
- Research, develop, present, and promote projects independently.
- Travel up to 30% within the market and work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Approximate salary $49,000 – $65,000 annually; exact compensation based on various factors.
