PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Development Associate (DA) is a vital member of The Women’s Safe House development team providing essential administrative and operational support that advances TWSH’s fundraising, stewardship, and community engagement goals. Key areas of responsibility include managing the donor database; coordinating foundation prospect research, applications, and reporting; supporting donor stewardship efforts; and assisting with the coordinating and execution of fundraising events. The DA also supports overall departmental operations.
The Development Associate supports The Women’s Safe House’s mission to empower women and families to rebuild their lives free of domestic and sexual abuse through fundraising, stewardship, and community engagement efforts.
Responsibilities to include but are not limited to the following:
Foundation Grants Management- Conduct research to identify foundation grant prospects
- Maintain Foundation grants calendar with deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements
- Prepare, draft, and submit letters of intent, proposals, and reports
- Track grant results, impact outcomes, and funder requirements
- Support stewardship of foundation funders;
Ensure accurate and timely foundation funder communication and expectations - Maintain accurate records in database
- Prepare agenda for monthly Grants Meeting
- Manage the donor databases (Raiser’s Edge and Give Smart)
- Enter, process, and reconcile donor and gift information accurately
- Maintain accurate donor records, giving histories, and contact information
- Run database queries, lists, weekly and monthly reports, and prepare dashboards
- Maintain data integrity and support department analytics
- Maintain accurate and updated mailing lists
- Coordinate fundraising events and campaigns including event registration, logistics, timelines, and vendor relations
- Provide administrative support to development department activities, meetings, and initiatives
- Maintain organized departmental files, calendars, and systems
- Assist with budget tracking, invoice processing, and vendor communication
- Prepare briefing materials, presentations, and development reports
- Assist with execution of the Annual Development Plan
- Actively participate in fundraising and outreach initiatives
- Participation in TWSH committees as requested
- Represent TWSH in a professional and mission-aligned way
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience
- 1–2 years of experience in fundraising, communications, administration, or related field
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Commitment to TWSH’s mission, values, and work with survivors
- Experience with fundraising databases (Raisers Edge preferred)
- Experience in grant writing, research, or data management
- Knowledge of donor stewardship and events coordination
- Strong project management, time management, and follow-through;

- Strong computer and data management skills, with commitment to confidentiality, ethics, and responsible stewardship of donor information.
Physical Requirements
- Office environment
- Occasional evening/weekend work for events
- Ability to lift/move up to 20lbs occasionally for event logistics
- Salary range: $46,000 – $50,000 annually
