At B5 Learning Center, the VISTA member will be part of a collaborative, mission‑driven team passionate about empowering adults and families who face barriers related to language and poverty. The office culture is rooted in teamwork, compassion, and servant‑hearted leadership—where every staff member plays a role in helping others thrive. The VISTA will gain hands‑on experience in community engagement, project management, and nonprofit development.
They will work closely with B5 staff and community partners to design and implement systems that increase access to education and technology. Through meetings, outreach, and collaborative planning, the member will build meaningful relationships with people who are dedicated to serving their community and creating pathways out of poverty. This position offers professional growth in areas such as program design, capacity building, partnership development, volunteer coordination, and data‑driven decision‑making.
The member will leave their service year with a deeper understanding of how community‑based organizations create sustainable impact and empower adults to reach their educational and economic goals.
The Ameri Corps VISTA member will help B5 expand access to digital literacy and online English learning for adults facing language and employment challenges. Working with a passionate team committed to equity and opportunity, the VISTA will:
- Assess community needs.
- Evaluate B5’s capacity.
- Develop partnerships, volunteer systems, and sustainable tools—such as a device lending plan—to increase access to education and technology.
This project will strengthen opportunities for adults to gain skills essential for employment, education, and long‑term economic stability.
