Rural Outreach Advocacy Coordinator – Kansas Coalition Against Sexual and Domestic Violence

Position: Rural Outreach Advocacy Coordinator

Responsible To: Director of Outreach and Accessibility

Overview: This position will identify and support the efforts to enhance the safety of rural victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking statewide. This position will include developing and supporting strategies that meet the diverse needs of survivors in rural Kansas, including through partnerships and collaboration.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and training on topics relevant to underserved survivors to DV/SA member programs, other community victim service providers and agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Midwest Native Coalition for Justice and Peace and/or Kansas Tribal programs to improve services and responses to Native survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking.
  • Collaborate to review KCSDV public awareness materials and training curriculum to ensure appropriate use of language and culturally specific information.
  • Maintain and expand a list of qualified interpreters. Provide training and best practice information to interpreters and DV/SA member programs on the special considerations in DV/SA and interpretation.
  • Develop and provide trainings on providing holistic and culturally relevant services.
  • Work with other KCSDV staff and DV/SA member programs to develop, review, improve and implement KCSDV’s Language Access and Community Outreach and Engagement plans.
  • Stay up to date on local, state, and national best practices and research relevant to this position.
  • Develop and write resources relevant to this position to be distributed throughout the state.
  • Assist with other KCSDV duties as assigned.
  • Supervise staff and projects related to domestic and sexual violence advocacy and service provision; provide best practice information and training to advocates and allies; participate in state and national committees regarding primary prevention, stalking, sexual assault, and domestic violence.
Employment Details
  • Employment Status: Full-time, non-exempt

  • Salary Range: Starting salary is $47,000. This starting salary is non-negotiable. Our compensation structure – as well as our approach to future compensation adjustments – is transparent to all employees.
  • Location: In downtown Topeka, KS with a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. Remote work is set for most staff on Mondays and Fridays, with weekly office hours 8:30am-5:00pm (Mon–Thu) and 8:30am-12:30pm (Fridays).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong preference for prior experience working in sexual and domestic violence, knowledge of culturally relevant issues and understanding the needs related to survivors who speak languages other than English (LEP). Strong preference for spoken and written proficiency in Spanish. Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrated commitment to social change and anti-oppression work. Ability to write materials and train on topics relevant to the position.

Ability to travel and have own means of transportation. Must be able to lift and carry 20-30 lbs.
