POSITION: Donations Database Volunteer
DEPARTMENT: Development
REPORTS TO: Development Database Lead
LOCATION: Lewiston, ME
Schedule and
Hours:
1-2 shifts a week (Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday for in-person; any days, including weekends for remote work) for 2-4 hours a shift. Beginning in January, the volunteer would be asked to commit to two shifts a week or a minimum of 4 hours a week.
Position Summary: The Donations Database Volunteer works under the supervision of the Development Database Lead and is responsible for maintaining accurate logging of donations, scanning batches clearly, mailing materials as needed, and database cleanup. The volunteer provides services to help enhance the Development team and Center’s mission and must be willing to consistently make a weekly commitment to the Center and complete all tasks in a timely and organized manner.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Printing letters and envelopes, stuffing and mailing materials as appropriate
- Data Entry
- Logging Donations
- Scanning document batches
- Merging documents using Adobe
- Database cleanup
- Proof reading
- Other tasks as assigned
- General office skills including use of a copier, scanner, fax machine and Pitney Bowes postal machine
- Detail oriented
- Willingness to learn new computer software
- Proficient with Adobe (must be able to merge documents and organize pages)
- Strong proof-reading skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word (must be able to create mail merges), and data entry
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong organization skills
- Ability to troubleshoot with computer, printers and scanners
- Dependable
- Excellent communication skills
- Accounting or banking experience preferable
- Ability to sit, stand or walk for duration of shift (up to 4 hours)
- Ability to perform bending, twisting, reaching motions
- Maintains professional behavior, dress and appearance at all times while volunteering.
- Must use discretion and protect the confidentiality of all Dempsey Center clients. HIPAA-specific training will be provided.
- Ability to effectively communicate with employees, Board members, donors, prospects, volunteers, consultants, advisors, and members of the community.
- Annual flu immunization or declination notice
- Proof of COVID-19 immunization (initial series or booster)

Computer OperationsProficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization s Bloomerang system and Zoom, if needed. Requires intermediate or better proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Excel, and Outlook, or equivalent.

Working ConditionsWorks regularly under desirable conditions with little or no disagreeable features. Illumination and ventilation are good, and distractions may be frequent. Risks of exposure to hazardous conditions and blood borne pathogens are minimal.
