Hours: Regularly scheduled in-person hours in our Kalamazoo office are Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm with some weekend, early morning, and evening events; remote work as agreed with supervisor.
SUMMARYThis position plays a crucial role in advancing our mission by leading comprehensive fundraising efforts. The Director of Resource Development serves as a key strategist who aligns donor interests with the transformative work of the Boys & Girls Club (BGC), deepening engagement and guiding contributions that drive significant community impact.
As a visible representative of BGC, the Director of Resource Development will actively engage with the community, participating in local events and building rapport with key partners to promote our initiatives. With a focus on equity and inclusive fundraising practices, the Director of Resource Development will cultivate relationships that enhance donor stewardship and expand giving opportunities, ensuring successful execution of annual fund campaigns and major initiatives.
DUTIES& RESPONSIBILITIES Resource Development Strategy, Planning & Execution
- Revenue Strategy & Goal Achievement
- Collaborate with the CEO to set and achieve annual and multi‑year revenue goals.
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at all levels.
- Analyze donor and giving trends to support budget development and year‑round fundraising activities, including setting annual targets, stretch goals, matching gift opportunities, and long‑term projections.
- Donor Cultivation & Relationship Management
- Manage and grow relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, foundations, and planned/legacy giving prospects.
- Expand donor markets, including corporate sponsor ships, stock gifts, capital campaign contributions, and estate/planned giving.
- Develop and execute strategies for re‑engaging lapsed donors.
- Plan and oversee donor recognition efforts, including mailings, events, and social media.
- Fundraising Operations & Data Management
- Monitor and report fundraising performance, provide regular updates to the CEO and prepare reports/presentations for the Board of Directors.
- Participate in the Board led Resource Development Committee.
- Manage and maintain the Bloomerang donor database and ensure accurate, timely recordkeeping.
- Partner with Finance to reconcile donor data monthly.
- In collaboration with the CEO and Resource Development Committee, develop written policies and procedures for the Resource Development Department.
- Grants & Funding Opportunities
- Lead writing, submission, and management of BGC grants, including opportunities through for‑profit companies, investors, and other assigned funders.
- Support preparation of program/unit‑level resource needs and develop donor communications to address these needs.
- Fundraising Events & Community Engagement
- Lead all aspects of annual fundraising events, from planning to execution.
- Attend and provide support for BGC community events as needed.
- Represent BGC at targeted community events, activities, and functions to strengthen visibility and donor engagement.
- Annual Giving Programs
- Strategize, plan, and execute annual giving campaigns.
- Lead efforts to attract new donors, cultivate existing donors, and maintain a healthy donor pipeline aligned with revenue goals.
- Strategic Marketing & Branding – In collaboration with CEO, Director of Operations, and Program & Social Media Coordinator:
