Puppy Raising Field Manager - Seattle, WA

If your people skills are as good as your puppy skills, consider joining the team at Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) as a Puppy Raising Field Manager (PFM). Based in the Seattle, WA area and covering a regional territory that includes Western WA and the Puget Sound area, you will teach and apply the canine training and socialization skills needed to raise healthy, happy guide dog puppies.
It’s rewarding, hands‑on work in the field, as you manage and support a territory of puppy‑raising volunteers and approximately 75 dogs, evaluate their progress, and ensure that proper training is taking place.
We’ll also rely on you to identify, recruit, and train potential new puppy‑raising volunteers, as well as assist with fundraising, marketing, outreach, and public‑relations initiatives and events. This is a flexible, full‑time position where you can work from your home, as well as with volunteers in the field, and make your own schedule; it does involve significant travel.
The qualifications you’ll need:
- 2+ years of experience in assessing dogs’ health, temperaments, and behaviors, as well as conducting dog training, behavior modification, and placement
- Knowledge of canine behavior management, with the ability to assess and evaluate raisers to give them appropriate guidance
- 2+ years of supervisory / management experience with the ability to provide strong leadership that supports volunteer development and successfully resolves conflicts
- Experience leading classes and instructing others
- Strong time‑management skills and ability to create and sustain a fully remote working schedule, as well as manage significant travel
- Demonstrated ability to recruit volunteers and identify potential programs and resources within their community
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to track multiple deadlines and progress related to specific puppies and volunteers
- Valid driver’s license and insurability at non‑risk rates
- Canine behavior certification preferred (IAABC, ACAB, CCPDT, UW‑AAB or KPA)

Pay Range: $86,000 - $105,000
This is fully remote, exempt position, based in the Seattle, WA area.
