Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Carolinas (BBBSCC) is looking for a Data & Research Manager to join our team in our Charlotte, NC office.
The Data & Research Manager is the primary manager of the organization CRM system and is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and strategic use of the organization’s donor database. This role is critical to maintaining strong donor relationships, supporting fundraising and stewardship efforts, and enabling data-informed decision‑making across the organization. This position will report to the Vice President of Development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Serve as primary administrator of the organization’s CRM, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, security, and compliance with ethical standards.
- Oversee ongoing database maintenance, including data entry standards, coding, segmentation, flags, audit trails, and system clean‑up.
- Manage gift processing and acknowledgement workflows, ensuring accurate documentation of donor intent, restrictions, and timely donor recognition.
- Maintain alignment between CRM data and financial records in collaboration with finance and development teams.
- Build, maintain, and interpret dashboards, reports, projections, and key performance indicators for fundraising and engagement activities.
- Provide routine and ad hoc reporting, donor lists, mailing lists, and analytical support to development, finance, and leadership.
- Conduct donor and prospect research using CRM data, screening tools, and external platforms; prepare concise research summaries and engagement reports.
- Identify trends in donor retention, acquisition, upgrades, and engagement to inform fundraising strategy and resource allocation.
- Manage CRM integrations with related systems (e.g., email, events, online giving, accounting) and troubleshoot data issues.
- Develop and maintain CRM documentation, workflows, and best practices; assess staff training needs and support CRM users.
- Serve as a strategic partner to development leadership by proactively identifying data risks, opportunities, and system improvements.
- Support agency-wide campaigns, cross‑departmental initiatives, and ongoing professional learning in fundraising data and research best practices.
- Responds promptly to internal and external requests and meets commitments.
- Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
- Ability to explain complex technical or data‑related concepts in simple, accessible language.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and critical‑thinking skills.
- Solid understanding of database management principles and business process workflows.
- Ability to analyze data and translate findings into actionable insights.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college required.
- Minimum of three to five years of relevant database or CRM management experience.
- Experience working in a nonprofit environment strongly preferred, particularly with individual donor solicitation, engagement, and stewardship.
- Proficiency with donor databases and CRMs; experience with Donor Perfect is a plus.
- Experience using prospect research and wealth screening tools.
- Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
