Highlands Psychoanalytic Collective is a small, values-driven charity offering accessible psychoanalytic psychotherapy and reflective practice support for healthcare professionals in the Scottish Highlands. We are committed to careful, ethical work, long-term thinking, and relational depth — with our clients and with one another.
We are seeking an experienced freelance fundraiser to support the financial sustainability of the Collective and help us grow our work in thoughtful, realistic ways.
The roleWorking closely with the staff team and Trustees, you will help to develop and deliver fundraising activity that aligns with our ethos. This role is well suited to someone who enjoys working independently, understands the realities of small charities, and can bring structure and momentum to fundraising without pressure or hype.
Whilst we are a newly registered charity, we have been successfully raising funds over the past year, and we have a pipeline of prospects and a track record of successful funding applications. We have built a strong case for support with a variety of emotionally engaging and clinically impactful projects to fundraise against, as well as our day-to-day core clinical service, delivering specialised psychotherapy to adolescents in the Scottish Highlands.
Our work is desperately needed, and it makes a real difference to young people’s lives.
So far, our grant applications have been written by two of our co-founders, both of whom have experience in fundraising and writing grant applications. As we grow and develop, we want our fundraising to be led by a fundraising specialist, with strategic input and direction from the senior staff team and Trustees.
Key responsibilities include:- Identifying and researching appropriate funding opportunities (trusts /foundations /grants)
- Writing and submitting funding applications
- Sensitive use of AI to increase the quality and quantity of funding applications
- Supporting reporting to funders where required
- Advising fundraising strategy proportionate to a small organisation
- Helping us think creatively about sustainable income streams
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience of successfully fundraising significant amounts for charities or community organisations
- Is confident writing clear, compelling funding application
- Understands the Scottish grantmaking environment, and more locally grantmaking in the Scottish Highlands
- Understands (or is curious about) therapeutic, mental health, or psychoanalytic work
- Can work sensitively with a reflective, non-hierarchical collective
- Is organised, reliable, and comfortable working freelance
