Political Affairs Internship
The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine and poverty. With 20 years of experience in the advocacy space, the Borgen Project has worked to support the passage of numerous bills that have benefited close to 500 million people in developing countries.
This part-time internship (12 hours per week for 12 weeks, unpaid, remote) focuses on making poverty a focus of U.S., Canadian, and U.K. foreign policy. The internship is unpaid, though college credit may be available. New programs begin every month; you may choose your starting month.
Responsibilities- Lead public and political outreach in your state and district.
- Meet with members of Congress/Government in your state, district, or constituency.
- Represent The Borgen Project at various business, political, and community events.
- Assist with fundraising, create a personal fundraising campaign and meet targets.
- Mobilize individuals to contact their members of government in support of key poverty-reduction legislation.
- Speak to groups, classes, and organizations.
- Write letters of support for key programs to political leaders, media, and other groups.
No prior experience is necessary. We’re looking for people who are passionate about fighting poverty and righting wrongs, regardless of your GPA or background.
Desired availability: 12 hours per week for 12 weeks (flexible, can be completed in fewer weeks).
