The Ramsgate International Film & TV Festival (RIFTVFest) is looking for enthusiastic and passionate Pre-Selectors and Programmers to help them shape their 10th Anniversary celebratory selection for 2027.
Are you passionate about independent cinema? Do you enjoy watching films from across the globe?
Programmers play an essential role in building a selection of films which embrace our core values of diversity, inclusion, innovative storytelling, and new technologies.
As a pre-selector, you will work closely with the curatorial team and other pre-selectors to view and evaluate submitted films and contribute to ongoing selection conversations through scheduled online meetings.
This is a flexible, fully remote role, ideal for people keen to learn and develop their programming skills, or for established professionals seeking to select new creative stories.
Commitment and Responsibilities
- Watch approximately 40 hours of assigned content between August and December 2026.
- Produce a concise assessment and constructive feedback on the films watched via the viewing platform.
- Flag content to be discussed at online meetings.
- Completion of first-round viewings by 30 September and second-round viewings by 30 November.
- Attend approximately three online meetings to discuss your films and help with programming decisions.
Person specifications
- Clearly passionate about independent cinema.
- Availability for the viewing and review period:
August to December 2026. (This is a fully remote role). - Organised and committed individuals who can meet agreed deadlines.
- Committed to RIFTVFest’s programming practice, ensuring consideration of inclusive representation, access, and audience diversity across the programme.
- No previous programming experience required. Full guidance will be given.

RIFTVFest strongly encourages applications from all areas of society.
