The Brain Tumour Charity is leading the way in research, support, and advocacy for everyone affected by brain tumours. Our mission is simple but urgent: to accelerate a cure for brain tumours and improve life for everyone affected by this devastating disease.

The Senior Trusts and Foundations Officer is responsible for researching prospects, developing applications and managing deadlines to maintain and develop a strong portfolio of small and medium trust and foundation supporters, securing sustainable income for all aspects of The Brain Tumour Charity's work in line with fundraising priorities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and ambitious team.

You will manage and maintain a pipeline of compelling and well-written applications and reports being submitted to small and medium trusts and foundations, ensuring excellent cultivation and stewardship of these relationships. You will work with a wide variety of people including funders, volunteers and colleagues across The Charity to gather the information you need. You will also research and identify new trust prospects, interpret funder priorities and carry out due diligence checks, updating our CRM database.

The role works primarily within the Trusts and Foundations team, whilst also working with colleagues from the wider Philanthropy and Partnerships team to support cross-team activities and projects.

Location:

While contracted to our office in Fleet, Hampshire, our team supports a blend of office and home working provided you have adequate broadband and IT capability, with an average of 2 days in the office each week. Please note that our office is currently based in Fleet; however, we will be relocating to Woking from 2027. Candidates should be comfortable with this future change in location.

Working hours:

This role is 37.5 hours per week, with some out of hours working.

Benchmarked salary:

£37,500 (dependent on level)

We are looking for an experienced trust fundraiser with a proven record of writing successful applications, achieving four and five figure sums and multi-year grants and stewarding these relationships. You will have the ability to develop detailed and creative proposals and supporting budgets, with excellent written communication skills, research skills and a strong eye for detail and accuracy. You will work well with other teams to gather information, be able to work independently, meet deadlines and prioritise your workload.

  • Responsible for identifying and researching trusts and foundations, conducting due diligence checks and building a pipeline of prospects whose funding priorities resonate with the work of The Charity.
  • Managed by the Trusts and Prospect Research Manager, develop and manage a portfolio of applications and reports in accordance with deadlines and fundraising priorities.
  • Submit relevant, professional and inspiring applications and project proposals to small and medium trusts, securing multi-year awards wherever possible.
  • Work with multiple departments to gather information, case studies, budgets and project updates to write compelling applications and reports.
  • Manage trust relationships by maintaining existing relationships and being aware of each trust’s preferences and requirements. Optimising giving potential and long-term support through excellent stewardship and donor care.
  • Maintain reporting systems to record fundraising activity and income generation, using our CRM database.
  • Deliver against agreed income and expenditure targets.
Experience:
  • Proven record of writing successful trust applications to achieve four and five figure sums and multi-year grants
  • Experience of writing and submitting tailored reports for individual funders
  • Experience of producing project budgets and reporting against budgets
  • Experience of working within the charitable sector and in a fundraising team
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Understanding of Trusts and Foundations and how they contribute towards The Brain Tumour Charity's goals
  • Firm grasp of fundraising principles, practice and processes
