We do things well and keep developing.
Do you love parks, open spaces and helping communities look after the places they love?
We are looking for a Green Spaces Project Officer to help make Teignbridge's parks and green spaces safe, welcoming and well used by local people.
You will help build strong relationships with community groups, volunteers and residents, supporting them to care for and make the most of local green spaces. You will also support the management of parks, cemeteries and open spaces by monitoring contract delivery, helping ensure statutory responsibilities are met, supporting Green Flag applications and using survey and performance information to guide improvements.
We're better together.
What matters most is that you can work well with people, manage varied tasks, use information to make good decisions and represent the Council positively. We are looking for someone who can communicate clearly with different audiences, build trust with community groups and partners, stay organised when priorities change, and use digital tools confidently.
You will enjoy working together as part of a team to deliver on our vision of making Teignbridge a healthy and desirable place where people want to live, work and visit.
We are an equal opportunities employer committed to a diverse and inclusive organisation. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of their age, disability, sex, gender re-assignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, caring responsibilities, and socio-economic status. We also welcome applications from military veterans and their families.
We can offer:- Generous Local Government Pension Scheme.
- Hybrid and flexible working - Part office based, and part home based.
- Free car parking (we also have close access to a mainline train station).
- Generous annual leave and wellbeing package.
- Heavily discounted membership at Teignbridge District Council Leisure Centres.
- Cycle to Work Scheme.
- Opportunities for career and self-development.
- 24/7 employee discount access and employee assistance support.
- A relevant degree/apprenticeship or equivalent experience (in green space, conservation management and/or community engagement)
- Community and volunteer development and partnership working knowledge and experience - preferably within green/open space environments.
- Project and contract quality management skills and experience.
- Experience using a range of IT systems and social media platforms.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills to analyse and present qualitative and quantitative information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to engage different groups with different communication styles and through a range of mediums.
You will also need to be comfortable working outdoors in different weather and terrain, be able to support occasional evening/weekend events, and be able to travel effectively across the district to visit green spaces.
It is vital to read the job description and person specification for this role - it will help you understand whether your knowledge, skills and experience match the job requirements.
In your supporting statement please tell us how you meet each of the essential criteria we ask for in the person specification.
