RNIB Cymru’s Strategy and Public Affairs Team works to remove the barriers faced by blind and partially sighted pe olo in everyday life.
As a Social A ction Community Coordinator you’ll be part of an ambitious, creative and dynamic team. We’ve had a lot of success in Wales and we’re looking for the right person to join our team, sharing in our ambition to make a world that works better for blind and partially sighted people.
These are permanent positions, home working with an expectation to be in our Cardiff office when required.
About the RoleYou will be responsible for the recruitment, training, management and support of volunteers, enabling them to co-produce and co-deliver targeted behaviour change and sight loss awareness campaigns as part of RNIB’s developing social action strategy. You will support blind and partially sighted people to use their lived experience to contribute to RNIB’s behaviour change, policy, campaigning and communications work which includes delivering training on public speaking and other identified areas of development as appropriate.
You will help develop and deliver our Social Action strategy plan working alongside the RNIB Cymru Strategy and Public Affairs team. You will develop and maintaining relationships with local groups, organisations and businesses to facilitate the delivery of social action interventions, supporting them to take actions which will make local communities more inclusive. You will facilitate the provision of digital peer support and information sharing, working with volunteers to post content and moderate the RNIB Cymru Connect Facebook group.
You will improve our community outreach and support the promotion of RNIB as an organisation that supports people along their sight loss journey.
We are looking for a person with d irect experience, or an in-depth knowledge, of issues and social barriers affecting blind and partially sighted people.
You will be experienced in raising awareness and delivering activities which lead to changing public perceptions or behaviours.
You will be able to effectively recruit and manage volunteers, supporting them to share their lived experiences and develop their skills, eventually enabling them to deliver their own campaigns.
You will enjoy collaboration and be able to work as part of a team towards a shared goal, with the ability communicate effectively in person and through writing.
You will be able to adapt to a variety of environments and be able to cater your approach to a variety of different audiences.
Welsh language skills are particularly desirable.
