About the Role
Our client, a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable community growth in Benoni , is seeking a proactive Community Development Officer . This role is instrumental in identifying community needs, designing and implementing development projects, and mobilizing local resources and participation. You will work closely with community members, local government, and other stakeholders to create positive and lasting change. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of community dynamics and a passion for empowering local initiatives in Gauteng .
Key Responsibilities- Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies for community development projects.
- Develop project proposals and plans, ensuring alignment with community priorities and organizational goals.
- Facilitate community meetings and workshops to encourage participation and ownership of projects.
- Coordinate project implementation, managing timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and other development partners.
- Monitor and evaluate project progress and impact, preparing regular reports for stakeholders in Benoni .
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in community development or project management within the non-profit sector.
- Demonstrated experience in needs assessment, project planning, and implementation.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups.
- Familiarity with participatory rural appraisal (PRA) methods is an advantage.
