Langley Trust is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Chaplaincy to provide strategic Christian leadership across the organisation. This is a unique opportunity to champion our Christian identity, lead and develop our chaplaincy team, strengthen relationships with churches and partners, and help create opportunities for clients, staff, volunteers and supporters to encounter the love of Christ. Working closely with the Director of Chaplaincy and Senior Leadership Team, you will play a key role in shaping our spiritual vision and extending the impact of our mission both within and beyond the Trust.

This is a permanent, full-time role working 37 hours per week, home-based with regular travel to our Central Office in Coventry and services across England, offering a salary of £56,672 per annum.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide inspiring Christian leadership across Langley Trust, nurturing spiritual growth through prayer, worship, teaching, devotions, and faith development opportunities for clients, staff, and volunteers.
  • Lead, develop, and support a dedicated chaplaincy team, ensuring strategic delivery of our Christian mission while recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring chaplains across the Trust.
  • Plan and deliver impactful retreats, encounter days, Alpha courses, training events, prayer initiatives, and other faith-based activities that bring the love of Christ to life.
  • Champion and strengthen Langley Trust's Christian identity, helping to shape our mission, values, and spiritual impact both within the organisation and across the communities we serve.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with churches, church leaders, prison chaplaincies, and Christian organisations, encouraging greater engagement with our work and mission.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to drive organisational objectives, provide pastoral support, promote a Christ‑centred culture, and deputise for the Director of Chaplaincy when required.
ABOUT YOU
  • You are a committed and passionate Christian with a strong biblical foundation, an active spirit filled prayer life, and a genuine desire to help others grow in their faith and experience the transforming love of Christ.
  • You have proven leadership experience within a church, chaplaincy, or Christian organisation, with the ability to inspire, develop, and support teams while shaping and delivering a clear missional vision.
  • You are an excellent communicator, confident in teaching and articulating the Christian faith to a wide range of audiences, and able to build meaningful relationships with churches, partners, supporters, and colleagues.
  • You are an organised, creative, and self‑motivated leader with strong influencing skills, a heart for pastoral care, and a passion for seeing lives renewed regardless of a person's past or circumstances

The successful candidate will be a practicing Christian who will create an environment where people feel valued, empowered and equipped to do their best work. This person will play a full part to further the organisational aims and provide strong Christian leadership to allow Langley to be a leader within the different sectors in which it operates. The postholder will always uphold the Trust's Christian ethos and Christ like culture and therefore there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a practicing and professing Christian under the Equality Act 2010.

Please note that the successful candidate will need to be happy to adapt to change and flexible in their duties. No one day will be the same so the ability to refocus frequently is important.
