Job Summary

As a member of the Financial Development Team, the Director of Philanthropy
- Community Giving will be responsible for creating the philanthropic strategy and objectives for community giving and direct the implementation in assigned Branches, Districts, Centers of Excellence (CoEs) or Departments. Responsibilities will include working with a portfolio of individuals based on assignment to acquire, cultivate, solicit, and steward community level gifts up to $10,000. Responsible for a comprehensive and aggressive social media and in-person campaign plan structure that will maximize annual giving as well as capital opportunities.

This Director will lead the strategy to assist volunteer leadership, staff leaders and donors to develop a culture of philanthropy as a foundation of annual giving and springboard for major and planned giving programs.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday with occasional nights and weekends as needed.

Flexible Work, also called remote work or telecommuting, is a flexible work location arrangement that permits YGS employees to work at home, at a non-office location, at a satellite office, a YGS facility or any of the above. In most cases, flexible work arrangements outline the workplace conditions of YGS employees who are approved to periodically work from their homes or another convenient location in the YGS area.

Hiring Range: $85,000 - $110,000/annually

Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships within your area of focus with well over 100 prospective new and current donors capable of making gifts up to $10,000 annually. Will be expected to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward these very important friends of the YMCA for annual fundraising, planned gifts, and capital gifts.
  • Support the Financial Development Team in meeting its annual fundraising targets ($11M+) and capital fundraising objectives.
  • Works collaboratively and strategically with the Branch Executives, Board Members, other fundraising professionals, volunteers, and other Y leaders to cultivate and solicit donors for association-wide priorities.
  • Serve as fundraising lead for assigned events, projects, activities, audiences, and areas of fundraising in assigned area (E.g. Annual Fund Drive, GiveBIG, planned giving, membership, etc.)
  • Renew and rebuild relationships with prior donors who have been dormant in recent years, as assigned.
  • Establish new donor relationships and expand pipeline, generate new leads, and qualify major gift prospects from research, prospect tracking tools, fundraising colleagues, and prior experience. Work with the Financial Development Team to identify and cultivate major prospects for future giving to annual, capital, program planned/legacy gifts, and endowment support.
