Nurturing Minds is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support quality education, life skills, and entrepreneurship to help at-risk girls in Tanzania become leaders in their communities. Currently, Nurturing Minds achieves this through partnership and support of Secondary Education for Girls’ Advancement (SEGA), a community-based non-governmental organization based in Tanzania whose purpose is to improve the quality of life for Tanzanian girls.
TheOpportunity
Nurturing Minds seeks a Communications Coordinator for a mid-level position offering an exciting opportunity to grow as a storyteller, communications professional, and nonprofit leader while helping advance an organization with global impact. Reporting to and working closely with the Executive Director, the Communications Coordinator will play a key role in telling the story of Nurturing Minds and SEGA as the organizations enter their 20th year.
This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
The Communications Coordinator will lead day-to-day content and digital communications, develop compelling stories and donor-facing materials, and help maintain a consistent organizational voice across channels. The role will collaborate with the Executive Director, staff, Board Communications Committee, SEGA colleagues, and external partners on broader communications initiatives, with opportunities to take ownership of projects and build new skills.
A major first-year initiative will be Nurturing Minds’ 20th anniversary, including helping promote an anniversary book. This is an opportunity to contribute to a significant organizational milestone while building a portfolio of meaningful, high-impact communications work.
This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the U.S. Employees are expected to primarily work between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET, with some flexibility based on location and organizational needs. Occasional U.S. travel is required for board meetings, events, and other activities, with potential opportunities for international travel to Tanzania to visit SEGA. Please note that Nurturing Minds is not able to provide visa sponsorship for this position.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Nurturing Minds staff to develop communications that support fundraising, donor engagement, and stewardship.
- Develop donor-facing materials that support cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising, including event invitations, campaign materials, impact updates, and other communications.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and other Nurturing Minds staff to ensure fundraising communications effectively convey organizational priorities, impact, and opportunities for support while aligning with the organization’s communications strategy and strategic plan.
- Project manage and develop compelling written content that communicates Nurturing Minds’ mission, programs, and impact across print and online newsletters, the website, social media, donor communications, annual reports, and other organizational materials.
- Identify and develop stories from SEGA students, graduates, staff, and partners that highlight their experiences, achievements, and the impact of Nurturing Minds and SEGA.
- Gather stories, quotes, photos, videos, and other content from SEGA and Nurturing Minds staff and partners.
- Translate program updates, data, and other information into engaging and accessible content for a range of audiences.
- Develop and maintain an organized library of stories, photos, videos, and other communications assets.
- Ensure content reflects Nurturing Minds’ voice, values, and commitment to ethical and respectful storytelling.
