Remote Community Mobilization Officer

Our client, a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to grassroots community empowerment, is actively seeking a Remote Community Mobilization Officer. This fully remote position allows you to drive community engagement and development initiatives from anywhere in South Africa. You will be responsible for designing and implementing strategies to mobilize communities, foster participation, and build local capacity to address their own needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of community development principles, exceptional communication and facilitation skills, and a proven ability to inspire collective action.

• Develop and implement effective strategies for community mobilization and engagement.
• Identify key community stakeholders and build strong, collaborative relationships.
• Facilitate community meetings, workshops, and participatory planning processes, often using virtual platforms.
• Support the establishment and strengthening of community-based groups and local leadership structures.
• Empower community members to identify their needs, assets, and priorities.
• Develop capacity-building programs for community members and local organizations.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of community mobilization efforts, adapting strategies as needed.
• Communicate project updates and successes to community members and stakeholders through various channels.
• Advocate for community needs and ensure their voices are heard in relevant forums.

• A degree in Community Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community development, mobilization, or outreach work.
• Proven ability to design and implement successful community engagement strategies.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience in remote engagement.
• Strong understanding of participatory development approaches and community empowerment principles.
• Experience in capacity building and leadership development.
• Proficiency in digital communication and collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Slack).
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain motivation in a remote setting.
