Community Organizer; Social Impact

Our client, a dynamic non-profit organization focused on community development and social impact in Soweto, Gauteng
, is seeking an experienced Community Organizer. This role is central to engaging residents, mobilizing community members, and fostering collective action to address local challenges and improve quality of life. You will be responsible for building relationships, facilitating dialogue, and empowering community stakeholders to identify needs and implement sustainable solutions within Soweto

• Develop and implement strategies to engage community members and build strong relationships.
• Organize and facilitate community meetings, workshops, and events to foster dialogue and collective decision-making.
• Identify community needs and priorities through research, surveys, and direct engagement.
• Mobilize community members to participate in local initiatives and projects.
• Build coalitions and partnerships with local organizations, community leaders, and government agencies.
• Develop action plans and support community-led initiatives to address identified issues in Soweto
  .
• Provide training and capacity-building support to community members and leaders.
• Track and report on project progress, outcomes, and community impact.
• Advocate for community needs and concerns at relevant forums and with stakeholders.
• Manage project resources and budgets effectively.

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in community organizing, grassroots mobilization, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to engage diverse community groups and build trust.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong understanding of community development principles and social justice issues.
• Experience in project planning, implementation, and monitoring.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a hybrid team, balancing field and remote work.
• Knowledge of the Soweto community and its challenges is advantageous.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
