Sustainability Coordinator

Our client, an innovative environmental advocacy group focused on sustainable practices in the Upington, Northern Cape region, is looking for a proactive Sustainability Coordinator . This role is pivotal in developing and implementing initiatives aimed at promoting environmental responsibility and sustainable resource management within the community and partnering organizations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of sustainability principles, excellent project management skills, and a passion for environmental conservation.

You will be responsible for coordinating various projects, engaging stakeholders, and contributing to measurable positive environmental impact in the Upington, Northern Cape area. This role offers remote flexibility with occasional site visits.

• Develop and implement sustainability strategies and action plans.
• Coordinate projects focused on renewable energy, waste reduction, water conservation, and biodiversity.
• Engage with local businesses, community groups, and government agencies to promote sustainable practices.
• Conduct research and provide recommendations on sustainability best practices and technologies.
• Organize workshops, training sessions, and awareness campaigns on sustainability topics.
• Monitor and report on the progress and impact of sustainability initiatives.
• Assist in developing and managing budgets for sustainability projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams to integrate sustainability into all aspects of operations.
• Stay updated on environmental regulations and sustainability trends.
• Identify potential funding sources for sustainability projects.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability Studies, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in sustainability management or project coordination.
• Strong knowledge of environmental principles, sustainable development, and climate change mitigation strategies.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with data collection and reporting on environmental metrics.
• Knowledge of the environmental challenges and opportunities in the Upington, Northern Cape region is an asset.
• Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office Suite.
• A proactive approach and a passion for environmental stewardship.
