Job Summary and ResponsibilitiesWe are seeking a PRN Gastroenterology Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant – Predominantly Weekend Coverage and occasional PTO coverage.
In collaboration with the physician/medical director, assumes clinical responsibility for tasks performed within Nurse Practitioner's scope of practice. Including: taking patient’s history, performing physical examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, establishing diagnosis and provide care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention in the pediatric and adult patient. The NP may assist in the admission, transfer or discharge from Health Care System.
Makes appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies. Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement program. Works within multidisciplinary team to develop plan for the patient and their family. In addition to the routine duties of detailed in NP scope of practice the in-patient, specialty NP will provide care and management for acutely ill patients, respond to emergency situations, and may also see patients in the intensive care units.
Also responsible for the management of the standards of care, quality, national certifications, and representation to key stakeholders for the specialty program.
- See patients in the outpatient clinic and hospital setting
- Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to Gastroenterology patients under the supervision and responsibility of a Physician
- Participate in education development and growth of DHMG Gastroenterology Division
- Work closely with the administrative and clinical directors for the GI Service Program to ensure quality and regulatory compliance in provision of clinical services
PA Requirements:
- Degree as a Physician Assistant (PA-C)
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Must hold and maintain: a.) AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants License, b.) NCCPA - National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant.
- Valid DEA registration.
- Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
NP Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN)
- Graduate of accredited program for Nurse Practitioners
- Compact state or Arizona RN license
- Arizona Advanced Practice Nurse license
- Must hold and maintain National Certificate as a nurse practitioner in area of specialty under AZ regulations: a.) NP-AACN, b.) NP-AANP, c.) NP-ANCC
- Valid DEA registration
- Must meet credentialing criteria for medical staff
