Clinical Nurse Educator

This role is open to all applicants and may be advertised in your home community or be eligible for remote work in accordance with the Government of Nunavut’s Remote Hiring Policy.

Overview

The Clinical Nurse Educator reports to the Territorial Health Education Manager and is responsible for promoting quality, culturally safe nursing practice, continuous quality improvement initiatives, optimal health outcomes and positive patient health‑care experiences. The position aids nurses in acquiring the professional competencies required to succeed in their roles and supports lifelong learning and professional development across Nunavut.

Responsibilities
  • Promote quality nursing services by assisting nurses to acquire the competencies needed for their practice.
  • Assess competencies, design learning plans, and support professional development activities.
  • Coordinate and deliver orientation, education, and training sessions for nurses in a variety of roles throughout the territory.
  • Ensure high clinical standards are met to promote equitable health‑care services and positive patient satisfaction.
  • Work with the nursing education team to increase public confidence in the health‑care system and impact the health and well‑being of Nunavummiut.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience as a nurse practitioner, community health nurse, nurse in charge, emergency room nurse or critical‑care nurse.
  • Minimum one year of experience in an adult learning setting, new nurse orientation program, internship, or mentoring program.
  • Eligibility to register with CANNN.
  • Highly Sensitive Position – a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and a clear Vulnerable Sector Check are required.
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross‑cultural environment are considered assets.
  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages (Inuktut, English, French) is an asset.
