Salary: $89,053 – $115,774 per year (GS 12)

• Conduct onsite assistance visits as clinical resource to staff to assess compliance with infection control policies and provide education, as necessary.
• Evaluate and design infection control interventions to meet requirements ensuring regulatory compliance at all levels to reduce the risk of infection to patients and healthcare personnel.
• Research and provide education regarding the complex issues surrounding the safe provision of health care for patients with blood‑borne pathogens/infectious diseases.
• Conduct risk assessments, incorporating local and regional geographical/population risks, as well as assessments for specific areas or situations.
• Evaluate and investigate incident reports about clinical disease processes, medical treatment, applicable laws and clinic program goals and practices.

• Appointment subject to suitability or fitness determination from background investigation.
• Personnel Security Investigation required.
• Testing designated position: pre‑employment screening, random drug testing, and consent to participation in random drug urinalysis.
• Immunization screening required;
  Hepatitis B immunization required for all positions with direct patient contact.
• Must obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification via American Red Cross.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds required.
• Consent to seasonal influenza vaccination or an exemption.
• Pre‑placement medical examination required.
• Must fulfill non‑privileged professional credential requirements.

Minimum educational requirement: A graduate or higher‑level degree, bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing program.

• Active, full, unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from any U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory; must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
• Foreign nursing graduates must complete the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools certification program (CGFNS). A copy of the CGFNS Certificate is required.
• One or more full years of professional nursing experience, including evaluating medical data, coordinating infection control programs, and providing education to staff or patients.
• No substitution of education for experience is allowed for this position.
