Compensation & Benefits
  • Starting hourly pay: $22.60 per hour ($47,008 annually)
  • 1st raise in 6 months: increase to $22.96 per hour
  • $500 bonus after 120 days and another $500 bonus after one year

Role Overview

A Therapeutic Program Worker (TPW) is a direct care worker that helps residents with daily living skills and assists them with needs. Support given to the individual will vary based on each person’s needs and capabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Assists with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communications, and feeding
  • Transport and attend activities or programs with residents
  • Complete various daily, monthly, and other required documentation
  • Observe and report any changes in symptoms, behaviors, accidents, incidents, or injuries to charge nurse
  • Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas
  • Apply safety and infection control measures
  • Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes
  • Assist nursing personnel with admission, discharge, and transfer of residents
Qualifications
  • Formal education in arithmetic including addition & subtraction and in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary
  • In the Department of Developmental Disabilities, must also possess a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence pursuant to Ohio Administrative Code 5123:2‑3‑01(F) (1)(c)
  • For positions at Veteran Services in addition to the above must possess STNA certification and/or listed on Ohio Nurse Aide Registry
  • For positions that require operation of a motor vehicle to transport consumers to recreational, educational, and/or occupational activities, a valid driver’s license is required
  • Or equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above
Unusual Working Conditions

May be required to stand for extended periods of time; may be required to lift heavy objects from time to time; may be exposed to bodily fluids and infectious diseases from residents; may be required to work weekends and mandatory overtime.
