Base Pay Range$56,388.00/yr - $81,848.00/yr

- Provides direct and individualized nursing care to internal medicine patients and their families under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Provide nursing care according to the established institutional and unit policies.
- Observe patient status, report and document changes and nursing care given.
- Administer and document medications according to established standards.
- Initiate appropriate measures in emergency situations.
- Instruct patients and families according to a teaching plan established by a Registered Nurse.
- Participate in unit staff meetings for problem-solving, planning and improvement of patient care.
- Assist in quality assurance activities.
- Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system (may be required in certain areas including prescription refills and durable medical equipment).
- Work at the maximum level of license, education and scope of practice.
- Other duties as assigned could include but not limited to wound care, suture staple removal, results reporting, blood pressure checks, injections, and specimen collection.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process, excellent problem‑solving skills, and demonstrated ability to set priorities.
- Demonstrated customer service, interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to build respectful relationships within and between units and individuals.
- Demonstrated accountability and dependability including a good attendance record with punctuality.
- Demonstrated adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives.
- Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
- Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing protocols, and evidence‑based interventions.
- Willingness to adapt to different populations (pediatrics, OB/GYN, adult medicine) as patient demands. Orientation and training would be provided for new subspecialties within primary care based on expansion of division.
- Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Ambulatory Clinic LPN experience.
- Hours/Week: 32
- Shift/Hours/Days:
Day Shift;
Mon‑Fri, hours are variable, with weekends and holidays as needed due to patient demands. - Location:
Saline Health Center with potential to work in other locations with expansion of division.
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time.
Union AffiliationThis position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U‑M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background ScreeningMichigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre‑employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third‑party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
