Job Summary and Responsibilities

CHI St. Vincent is a ministry of Common Spirit Health, dedicated to delivering high‑quality, faith‑based healthcare services to the communities we serve. Our Hot Springs campus offers a supportive and innovative environment where you can truly excel in your profession.

As a Neurosurgery Nurse Practitioner at CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive, patient‑centered care across both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will work alongside a team of experienced neurosurgeons, nurses, and support staff, contributing to exceptional patient outcomes.

  • Comprehensive Patient Management: Conduct detailed histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations for new and established neurosurgery patients in clinic, as well as managing daily rounds and consultations for hospitalized patients.
  • Treatment Planning & Implementation: Collaborate with supervising neurosurgeons to formulate diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans, including conservative management, medication prescriptions, pre/post‑operative care, and ongoing management during hospitalization.
  • Pre‑and Post‑Operative Care: Facilitate the pre‑operative workup of surgical candidates, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests. Provide continuity of care through post‑operative clinic visits and manage post‑operative patients in the hospital, monitoring for complications, pain, wounds, and neurological status changes.
  • Emergency & Acute Care: Participate in the assessment and management of neurological emergencies and acute issues for both clinic and inpatient populations. Respond to inpatient consultations and facilitate admissions and discharges.
  • Patient & Family

    Education:

Educate patients and their families about neurological conditions, treatment options, surgical procedures, medication management, and recovery expectations across all care settings.
  • Interdisciplinary

    Collaboration:

Work closely with surgical teams, hospitalists, intensivists, rehabilitation specialists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and optimal patient care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, complete, and timely electronic health records for all patient encounters.
