Shift Day

The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for utilizing training and skills to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a physician in a clinic setting.

• Manage patients in a collaboration with the cardiothoracic surgeons, providing specialty care to patients with acute and chronic problems in a clinic setting.
• Perform inpatient rounds on weekends on a rotational basis.
• Collect data pertinent to the patients' status.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and promote a positive work environment.
• Perform physical exams (within established protocol).
• Diagnose, treat and monitor chronic diseases (within protocol guidelines).
• Order diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe or recommend medications for treatment (within protocol guidelines).
• Promote positive lifestyle habits to all patients through education and counseling.
• Maintain patient's privacy and confidentiality.

• Graduate from an accredited Advanced Practice Nursing program.

• Current/valid APN license from the state licensing board.
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification

• 1 year previous experience as an NP in an acute care setting or equivalent RN experience.
