Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist - Gastroenterology

Are you an experienced and compassionate nurse looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients with liver disease? NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our established specialist nursing team. Working across inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy settings, you will deliver expert clinical care, education and support to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

• Full-time, Permanent
• You will be based between The Royal Alexandra Hospital and Inverclyde Royal Hospital
• Working Pattern:
  Monday - Friday 08:30 - 16:30

• Manage a specialist caseload of patients with hepatology conditions across the Clyde sector
• Deliver nurse-led clinics providing patient education, clinical assessment and psychological support
• Act as a key point of contact for patients requiring specialist advice and urgent clinical support
• Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to coordinate treatment, referrals and patient pathways
• Provide expert advice, education and support to patients, carers and healthcare professionals
• Lead and contribute to audit, research, quality improvement and evidence-based practice initiatives
• Support the ongoing development of hepatology services and promote innovation in clinical practice

• First Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and substantial post-registration experience
• Significant clinical experience within a gastroenterology or hepatology setting
• Certificate in intravenous cannulation, intravenous drug administration and venepuncture
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide highly sensitive information and support
• Proven ability to work autonomously while managing a complex caseload and prioritising workload effectively
• Experience of audit, service improvement, education or research with a commitment to evidence-based practice
• Working towards or holding a Clinical Specialist Degree and Nurse Prescribing qualification would be advantageous
