Video Capsule Endoscopy Nurse

Location: Greater London

We are looking for an experienced endoscopy nurse to act as a senior nurse for our growing video capsule endoscopy service. The successful candidate will work closely with the Lead VCE nurse, the clinical endoscopists supporting the service and the lead consultants for the service.
The main role will be to ensure the smooth running of the service, maximising opportunities to create efficiencies and increasing the number of patients we are able to manage through the VCE service.
The ability to communicate to patients both face to face and virtually is essential as we also provide a home VCE service.
As a small team, the ability to work autonomously and manage own work load effectively is expected.
There will be the opportunity to develop your skills further to enable you to undertake pre-reading of the capsules and undertake service improvement initiatives.

• Follow protocols to provide care for the adolescent & adult VCE service
• Develop & follow protocols for use in colon and Chron’s VCE patients
• Manage referrals coming in for VCE and arrange appointments
• Assess and take history of patient prior to VCE and explain procedure (including risks)
• Meet patient on the day of appointment and set up VCE and explain next steps
• Meet the patient later in the day to remove VCE equipment and explain next steps
• Support remote home capsule service
• Ensure patient receives appropriate follow up and is informed of results
• Undertake pre-reading of capsules, once trained
• Manage database of referrals and outcome data
• Audit outcomes as required
