The role:

The Advanced Emergency Nurse Practitioner (AENP) will work across role and organisational boundaries within the Emergency Care Complex at Stobhill Hospital. Working within a stand‑alone nurse‑led unit, you will manage the complete clinical care of patients, using expert knowledge and advanced clinical skills to support multidisciplinary teams across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

As an experienced AENP and clinical leader, you will have the freedom and authority to work autonomously in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting with unscheduled care needs, including prescribing.

The role also includes the authority to refer, admit and discharge patients appropriately within minor injury and Emergency Department settings, ensuring safe, high‑quality clinical care in accordance with professional standards and relevant legislation.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • This is a permanent post working part‑time hours - 27.6
  • The post will be based at Stobhill Hospital
  • The role operates on a 24‑hour day/night rotation
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part‑time hours
Key responsibilities:

You will provide autonomous advanced clinical assessment and management of patients presenting to unscheduled care services, including examining, diagnosing, treating, prescribing, referring, admitting and discharging patients where clinically appropriate.

You will manage patients with minor injuries and other multidimensional presentations, using advanced clinical knowledge and competence to make safe and effective clinical decisions.

Providing clinical leadership and support to multidisciplinary teams, work collaboratively across organisational boundaries and ensure that care is delivered to a high standard in line with Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements, Health and Safety legislation and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde policies and procedures.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Registered Nurse with appropriate professional registration.
  • Advanced Emergency Nurse Practitioner experience and clinical expertise.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in emergency and unscheduled care.
  • Ability to undertake autonomous patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
  • Advanced clinical decision‑making skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of prescribing within the relevant scope of practice.
  • Ability to appropriately refer, admit and discharge patients.
  • Knowledge of minor injuries and Emergency Department presentations.
  • Strong clinical leadership skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously within a nurse‑led clinical environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of Nursing and Midwifery Council standards and relevant Health and Safety legislation.
