Position: Senior Staff Nurse (Ed)

Job summary

Fixed Term 7 Months (Post is available to 28th March 27) | Maternity Leave Cover | Internal Only

Sheffield Children's Hospital is proud to be home to one of the leading Paediatric Emergency Departments in the country, recognised for the quality and timeliness of the care we provide. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Paediatric Nurse with significant experience in emergency medicine and trauma care to join our dynamic and forward-thinking team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a busy and supportive department, caring for children and young people with a wide range of urgent and emergency healthcare needs. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering outstanding care and helping us continue to provide an exceptional service for patients and families.

About You
  • Degree or Diploma level education. Registration as a Registered Nurse (RN Child, RNLD or RSCN).
  • A relevant post-registration qualification appropriate to the speciality.
  • The ability to effectively lead, support, and motivate a team.
  • Excellent clinical knowledge and decision-making skills.
Main duties of the job

Some of your responsibilities will include

  • To co-ordinate and provide skilled nursing care to patients, in accordance with responsibilities under the NMC Code of Conduct.
  • To participate in the continued development of nursing, including the supervision, teaching and development of junior nurses and support staff.
  • Act as an advocate for patients.
  • To plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patient attending a busy paediatric ED/Acute Assessment Unit in consideration of individual need, using prioritisation and delegation skills.
  • To assist the department Manager in managing and developing the Ward/Department.
  • To work collaboratively within a Multidisciplinary team, internal and external to the organisation, to facilitate holistic seamless care delivery for all Patients.
