Charge Nurse - OPSS

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Care of the Elderly for a highly motivated individual to help lead, implement & evaluate standards of good nursing care as a Charge Nurse. Ward 8A is a 28-bedded Acute Assessment Unit for the Elderly Ward - the team care for some of the most dependant and vulnerable patients, within the Hospital, who have a wide range of medical conditions & clinical needs.

On a daily basis you will be responsible for ensuring that you lead your team, promoting & providing a high-quality care. Supervise qualified & unqualified stafss. oou will ensure appropriate learning opportunities are met for all stafs, encouraging best practice to deliver a high quality of patient care at all times in line with the CAS standards framework. oou will be a motivated, organised individual with excellent communication skills with a desire to develop your leadership skills and managerial skills.

oou will be responsible to the Senior Charge Nurse for clinical guidance & professional management and will deputise for the SCN as required. oou will demonstrate excellent leadership, confident communication and effective organizational skills. Evidence of personal development will be expected with a willingness to contribute to education and audit. oou will possess substantial experience at band 5 level within a relevant setting and demonstrate a high level of IT skills A good understanding and knowledge of policy, procedures and national targets will be required to support the team.

The shift pattern is rotational 12hrs

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

• Shift pattern for this post are 12 hours rotational shifts

• Provide clinical leadership for the assessment of patient needs ,implementation and evaluation of programmes of care which are evidence based. Utilising all available resources taking into consideration the lifestyle, gender and cultural background and ensure involvement with the patient, family, carers and significant others.
• Maintain patient records in line with NMC guidelines for records and record keeping.
• Practice within the legal & Ethical framework as established by Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) and National Legislation to ensure patient interests and well being are met.
• Work within the National Health Service (NHS), NHS Greater Glasgow and Health & Safety Executive (HSE) Legislation, Policy, Guidelines and Procedures
• Empower patients to take responsibility for their health, well-being and future lifestyle by practising in an open transparent and inclusive manner, thereby ensuring patients have the relevant information to participate in decisions about their care.
• Provide an appropriate learning environment in line with NES Quality Placement Standards.
• Ensure completion of clinical appraisals for pre and post registration nurses.
• Demonstrate own professional development.
• Identify research/clinical audit priorities in conjunction with relevant professional groups
• The post holder is responsible for inputting information into electronic patient record where applicable and also into patients written records. They will comply with the Data Protection Act, Caldicott Guidelines and local policies regarding confidentiality and access to medical records
