As a Charge Nurse within Orthopaedics and Trauma, you will play a pivotal leadership role in delivering outstanding patient care while supporting and developing a skilled multidisciplinary team. Working closely with the Senior Charge Nurse, you will help drive high standards of clinical practice, service improvement and patient experience across the ward. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse to further develop their leadership skills within a dynamic acute care environment.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • Full Time, Permanent
  • You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
  • Working Pattern: 12-hour shift pattern which will be day and night shifts including some weekend and public holidays
Key responsibilities:
  • Provide visible clinical leadership and support the delivery of safe, effective and person-centred care
  • Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse and oversee the day-to-day management of the ward when required
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for patients undergoing specialist orthopaedic treatment and rehabilitation
  • Lead, supervise and support registered and support staff, ensuring high standards of professional practice
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate seamless patient care from admission through to discharge
  • Contribute to recruitment, staff development, clinical supervision, audits and service improvement initiatives
  • Support the effective management of ward resources, including staffing, equipment, supplies and medicines
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and significant post-registration nursing experience
  • Relevant and significant experience within an acute orthopaedic environment
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and support others
  • Strong clinical knowledge with advanced theoretical and practical understanding of a range of nursing procedures and practices
  • Proven organisational, analytical and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Good IT skills and knowledge of policies, procedures and standards relevant to acute healthcare settings
