Are you a motivated and experienced Registered Nurse looking to take the next step in your leadership career? As a Charge Nurse within the Critical Care service at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care while supporting and developing nursing teams. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide clinical leadership, coordinate the day-to-day running of the ward, and ensure the highest standards of care are consistently maintained.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Full Time, Permanent
You will be based at The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Working Pattern:
Mon – Sun 12-hour shifts, day shift and night shift rotational throughout Spinal Unit

Key responsibilities:

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care to ensure the delivery of safe and effective patient-centred care
Provide clinical leadership and support to nursing staff, acting as a role model and source of expert advice within the ward environment
Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse and take responsibility for the daily operational management of the ward when required
Supervise, support and mentor registered nurses, support workers and students to promote learning and professional development
Monitor and maintain standards of care, ensuring compliance with local policies, procedures, clinical guidelines and professional standards
Participate in quality improvement activities, clinical audit and service development initiatives to enhance patient outcomes
Manage resources effectively, including staffing, equipment, supplies and workload allocation to support efficient service delivery

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
Relevant post-registration qualification in Critical Care, Leadership or a related clinical specialty
Relevant or significant experience within a Critical Care, High Dependency Unit or comparable acute clinical environment
Proven leadership, clinical decision-making and team management skills within a busy healthcare setting
Evidence of continuing professional development and a commitment to maintaining and enhancing clinical knowledge and skills
Relevant or significant experience supporting quality improvement initiatives, clinical audit or service development activities
Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead teams, prioritise workload and build effective multidisciplinary relationships
