Clinical Nurse Specialist – Diabetes B6

We are seeking a Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Diabetes to join the Diabetes Service at RAH/Clyde permanently. This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Nurse with an interest in diabetes to develop specialist skills within a supportive and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across the Clyde sector, providing high-quality, person-centred diabetes care while developing into an autonomous diabetes specialist.

All roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

• Permanent, part-time - 30 hours per week
• Shift pattern
  - Days – 30 hrs /week, Monday-Friday
• Base location
  - Royal Alexandra Hospital

• Assess, implement and evaluate care and education for people living with diabetes and, where appropriate, their families and carers.
• Provide specialist advice and evidence-based diabetes interventions.
• Contribute to nurse-led specialist diabetes services.
• Deliver patient education and support self-management of diabetes.
• Develop skills in clinical decision-making and autonomous specialist practice.
• Act as a specialist resource for colleagues across primary and secondary care.
• Support and educate members of the wider healthcare team.
• Participate in education, audit, quality improvement and service development activities.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Relevant experience in diabetes care.
• Degree-level education or equivalent.
• Excellent clinical, communication, organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Relevant specialist diabetes education and training.

• Access to an agreed CNS development pathway.
• Ongoing professional and clinical support from experienced colleagues.
• Continuing professional development opportunities.
• Support to complete the required specialist training pathway to develop within the CNS role where appropriate.
