Travel RN - Med​/Surg - Hospice​/Palliative Care

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Hospice RN for a home-based position requiring HCHB proficiency and a VA or compact RN license.

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• Minimum of 1 year recent relevant experience required
• OASIS experience required for staff completing Start of Care (SOC)
• Proficiency in HCHB (Homecare Homebase) EMR required
• Active driver's license and personal transportation required
• Skilled in end-of-life care, pain management, symptom assessment, and patient/family education and support

Responsibilities

• Home-based hospice care setting serving a geriatric patient population
• Average caseload of 5-7 patients per day
• Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours (8:00 AM-5:00 PM)
• On-call responsibilities required 1-2 nights per week
• Weekend work may be required
• Territory covers up to a 60-mile radius from the hub office
• Provide hospice care including death pronouncement, postmortem care, and death/dying counseling
• Manage pain and symptoms using the WHO analgesic ladder, adjuvant therapy, and equianalgesic dosing techniques
• Support patients and families with goal setting, intake assessments, and ongoing education
• Address ethical and legal issues including advanced directives, medical futility, and organ donation
• Timely communication and documentation required
• Scrubs required in any color, no jeans permitted
• Cell phone use not permitted; iPad provided for work purposes
• Mileage reimbursed at the IRS standard rate
• RTO must be submitted at the time of application
• On-call rotation details to be discussed during interview
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
• Former permanent employees must be separated for a minimum of 6 months and approved by HR before returning as a traveler
• Travel pairs accepted, with each traveler assigned to their own territory and required to have their own transportation
