Telephone Triage Registered Nurse

Use clinical assessment and critical thinking to guide callers through telephone triage for Fonemed’s Canadian virtual care operations. Work from home.

This Registered Nurse position supports Newfoundland and Labrador’s 811 Health Line and Mental Health Crisis Line. Fonemed uses Schmitt-Thompson protocols to help nurses provide timely care advice and appropriate dispositions. The work includes mental health, addictions, and crisis intervention calls, with independent decisions and confidential clinical documentation.

• Assess callers and provide telephone triage advice
• Deliver mental health, addictions, and crisis intervention support
• Combine clinical judgment with established care protocols
• Determine appropriate patient dispositions and levels of care
• Document clear, confidential clinical information promptly

• Recognized nursing school graduation
• At least two years recent triage or clinical experience
• Mental health or crisis intervention experience is an asset
• CRNNL licensure or willingness to obtain it
• Private workspace, computer, headset, and high-speed internet required
