Northern England/Southern Scotland, based Hexham

RTS Forestry are offering the opportunity for an experienced forest manager to join our growing team of professional foresters.

RTS Forestry Ltd is a leading forestry management company with a long tradition of delivering wide-ranging forest management services to a wide variety of private individuals, investment portfolio clients and charitable organisations across Scotland and Northern England.

We provide a comprehensive range of forest, estate and land-related services underpinned by our in-depth market experience, knowledge base and commitment to quality.

The Role

We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced forest manager to join our team based in the Hexham office, covering Northern England and Southern Scotland.

The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a range of forest types and sizes within our well-established portfolio, as well as assisting in further expansion of the business.

Applicants are expected to have the following:

  • Diploma or Degree in Forestry
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in forestry
  • Understanding of:
  • the UK Forestry Standard (UKFS)
  • the UK Woodland Assurance Standard (UKWAS)
  • Knowledge of relevant planning/forestry legislation
  • Proficiency in QGIS mapping and analysis
  • Full UK driving licence

Whilst based in Hexham, living locally is not required and an element of remote working is anticipated, with occasional planned office days. The successful applicant will be professional, self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative, either alone or within the team. Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing is essential. Professional membership to the Institute of Chartered Foresters (or working towards) is desirable.
