Grounds Maintenance Operative
Parks and Countryside are looking to recruit a dedicated and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team, supporting the upkeep of green spaces across the South area of Wirral. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to play a key role in maintaining safe, attractive and high-quality parks and open spaces for the community.
About the role:
As a Grounds Maintenance Operative, you will carry out a wide range of duties to support the effective maintenance of parks and open spaces.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Grass cutting across a variety of sites
- Bowling green and fine turf maintenance
- Sports pitch preparation and upkeep
- Vegetation control and environmental management
- Maintenance and management of shrub beds and planted areas
- General cleansing and upkeep of outdoor spaces
- You will be required to operate a range of grounds maintenance tools and machinery, including ride‑on mowers, ensuring all work is carried out efficiently and to a high standard.
- The role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions and requires both independent working and collaboration with colleagues as part of a wider team.
About the candidate:
We are looking for someone who:
- Has practical experience in grounds maintenance or a similar outdoor role
- Is confident using a variety of horticultural tools and machinery, including ride‑on equipment
- Demonstrates a strong awareness of health and safety and safe working practices
- Takes pride in delivering high‑quality work and maintaining public spaces
- Is reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently when required
- Works well as part of a team and communicates effectively with colleagues
- A positive, flexible approach to work and a commitment to maintaining high standards will be key to success in this role.
Interviews to be held on 18 th or 19 th June 2026.
