We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Parks Officer to join our Outdoor Leisure team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a varied role, working across parks, open spaces, sports grounds, play areas, horticultural features, and cemetery services.
About the RoleWorking alongside the Parks Officer, you will help oversee the day-to-day management and monitoring of parks and open spaces in the southern part of the borough. You will support the delivery of the Council's Grounds Maintenance Contract, assist with site inspections, contribute to improvement projects, and help ensure our outdoor facilities remain safe, attractive, and well managed.
The role also includes supporting the operation of Tonbridge Cemetery, assisting with internments under guidance, responding to public enquiries, and working closely with a variety of partners, community groups, contractors, and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with monitoring the Grounds Maintenance Contract across the south of the borough.
- Support the day-to-day operation of parks, open spaces, sports grounds, play areas, and horticultural sites.
- Assist in the operation of Tonbridge Cemetery, including undertaking internments under supervision.
- Help inspect and manage the Council's tree stock in accordance with health and safety requirements and Tree Safety Strategy.
- Respond to enquiries from residents, Councillors, and other stakeholders.
- Support the delivery of capital projects and site development schemes.
- Liaise with sports organisations, community groups, contractors, and other partners.
- Attend site visits, meetings, and team briefings as required.
- Assist with collecting and collating information for budget and project planning purposes.
