HCUK Group - Arboriculture Consultant - (all levels)

£32,000-£40,000 per annum dependant on experience

Full Time Position

HCUK Group is a multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy, specialising in heritage, archaeology, landscape, arboriculture, and ecology. Our arboriculture team works on a diverse range of interesting projects at all scales within town, semi-rural and rural contexts, across a variety of sectors that includes residential, historic sites and estates, renewable energy, and mixed-use commercial developments.

What we are looking for:

We seek a suitably qualified Arboriculturist to join the team. The company is 100% home working (save for the obvious requirements to attend meetings and site visits etc). You will be part of a close- knit team and have daily contact with other team members via phone, email, and MS Teams. We work nationally, although would prefer for the candidate to be based in London or the South-east where the majority of our projects are located.

Essential

Requirements:
  • Level 4 or above arboricultural qualification with a minimum 5+ years post qualification experience
  • Good level of consultancy experience in primarily an arboricultural role with an excellent understanding of relevant planning policy and the planning process
  • Excellent report writing skills and ability to provide quality assurance for the team
  • Proficient in undertaking BS5837:2012 Tree Assessments including Tree Survey, AIA, and Arboricultural Method Statements
  • Experience of preparing woodland management plans
  • Knowledge and experience using Tree Risk Assessment (either QTRA or other assessment method)
  • Be enthusiastic about undertaking expert witness at appeal (ideally, but not essentially, with experience)
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in a client facing role, with the ability to nurture client relationships.
  • Self-motivated with an organised approach to managing workload.
  • The ability to work well collaboratively in a team and independently.
  • Good project management skills
  • Good commercial awareness and ability to prepare winning fee proposals.
  • Driving licence.
Desirable:
  • Level 4 or above arboricultural qualification
  • Experience includes working in a Local Authority as a Tree Officer.
  • Good knowledge of tree diseases and fungi.
  • Good level of competence using Adobe Suite (Illustrator/InDesign), basic competence in CAD (Vectorworks / AutoCAD)
  • Experience working with historic landscapes/heritage sites would be beneficial.
  • GIS skills to undertake landscape analysis.
What’s on offer?
  • Home working, with meeting and site visit attendance as required.
  • Opportunity for ongoing CPD
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Travel expenses paid.
  • Healthcare cash plan (post 6-month probation).
  • 5% employer pension contribution (following 3 months service).

HCUK Group is an equal opportunities employer.
