About the Role
Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Formulation Scientist to drive the development of new pharmaceutical dosage forms from their home office, supporting operations in Welkom . This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing novel drug delivery systems to enhance product efficacy, stability, and patient compliance. You will play a key role in translating scientific discoveries into viable pharmaceutical products, working with a highly collaborative team and leveraging advanced formulation technologies.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking research and development within the pharmaceutical sector, remotely serving the Free State region and beyond.
- Design and execute experiments for the development of various dosage forms, including oral solids, liquids, and semi-solids.
- Investigate and select appropriate excipients and materials for formulation development, considering compatibility and performance.
- Conduct stability studies and pre-formulation assessments to characterize drug substance and product performance.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for characterizing formulated products.
- Collaborate with regulatory affairs and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and product commercialization.
- Master's degree or PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Deep understanding of drug delivery systems, pharmacokinetics, and physical pharmacy principles.
- Experience with various formulation technologies and analytical techniques (e.g., dissolution testing, particle size analysis).
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and a proven capacity for innovation in formulation design.
