Senior Health & Safety Risk Assessor

Osterna, part of RMG and the Places for People Group, is looking for an experienced Senior Health & Safety Risk Assessor to join our proactive and highly successful Health & Safety team. This is a senior, hands-on role combining people leadership with operational delivery , where you'll manage and support a team of Risk Assessors while completing your own programme of risk assessments and report validation.

With a strong emphasis on quality over quantity and a positive work/life balance, this role offers a flexible, home‑based working arrangement alongside site visits. Where will I be working? As a Senior Assessor, you'll play a key role in shaping how risk assessments are delivered across the business, supporting and developing a remote team while maintaining your own technical expertise.

You'll be trusted to manage your workload effectively, balancing leadership responsibilities with site work and report validation, within a supportive and experienced senior team. What does the role involve? As a Senior Health & Safety Risk Assessor, you will:
Manage, support and develop a team of Osterna Risk Assessors, ensuring they are adequately trained, resourced and motivated Complete your own schedule of site visits and produce high‑quality, accurate risk assessment reports Ensure KPIs, SLAs and quality standards are consistently met Carry out regular 1:1s and appraisals within agreed timescales Provide competent Health & Safety and Fire Safety advice to clients when required Support recruitment, onboarding and induction of new assessors Contribute positively to senior team meetings, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement What knowledge, skills and experience are we looking for?

Essential:
Proven experience completing Fire Risk Assessments on residential blocks of flats Strong working knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and the Building Safety Act 2022 Level 3 NEBOSH General Certificate and NEBOSH Fire Certificate (or equivalent) Membership of a recognised professional body such as IFE or IFSM Commitment to maintaining professional memberships, qualifications and CPD Preferred:
Experience managing and supporting remote‑based assessors Ability to motivate and influence others, particularly during challenging periods Strong organisational and diary management skills Confident communicator with the ability to give and receive constructive feedback Experience managing performance where standards fall below expectations BAFE certified validator Level 5 diploma in fire safety and risk management What does RMG have to offer you?
