Environmental Health & Safety Officer; Sanitation Focus

Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Environmental Health & Safety Officer with a specialization in sanitation to join their team in Bloemfontein . This role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, with a strong emphasis on maintaining impeccable sanitation standards across all company operations. You will develop, implement, and monitor EHS programs, conduct risk assessments, manage hazardous materials, and promote a strong safety culture.

This position requires a strategic thinker with a hands‑on approach to EHS management, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for all employees.

• Develop and implement comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs , focusing on sanitation and hygiene.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Develop and deliver EHS training to employees on topics including sanitation, hazardous waste management, and emergency procedures.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Manage waste disposal programs and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
• Maintain EHS records, including incident reports, training logs, and compliance documentation.

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, or a related scientific field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in an EHS role , with significant experience in sanitation management.
• In-depth knowledge of South African health, safety, and environmental regulations .
• Experience with risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety training.
• Strong understanding of sanitation principles and practices in an industrial or commercial setting.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
